Warm Weather is for Summer Dresses

Happy Summer everybody!

We have been going through a major heatwave here in California and a light, flowy dresses has become my go-to. Nothing is easier to throw on than a light dress because in this heat, the last thing I want to do is overthink about what I am going to wear that day.  This dress in particular is my favorite because of its classic A-line look, floral print, and light and airy fabric. Paired with a pair of my favorite Vince Camuto sandals, and I am ready to start the day.

I saw this dress and instantly fell in love. Collecting pieces that I will wear often is important to me and this dress fit all the criteria. The length is perfect, a little bit above the knee. The print is versatile and the fabric is light.

This pretty black floral dress is from Topshop.

My favorite detail about the dress are the ruched sleeves. The drawstrings pull up giving the sleeves a slight angle.

The slightly open back has a button on the top to allow airflow while maintaining a classy look.

Oh My, Lace

This season has definitely been on the wet side, and although I love rain, I have been missing the warm sunny days characteristic of California. Somehow I feel most productive when the sun is shining and the birds are singing. Amid that, I miss wearing summer dresses. Having purchased this particular dress (Crisscross-Back Hollow Out Lace Up Dress) a few months ago, I have been dying to wear it out. And finally the day came. It was in the high seventies and I told myself, today is the day.

I purchased this dress on a website called Romwe.com and although I am usually very skeptical about buying clothing online, (I like to try it on first and make sure it fits), I decided to give it a go. To my delight, all the items I purchased were perfect. Not only were they inexpensive, this dress was only US $16.41, but they arrived fairly quickly, within a month. This dress is on the shorter side, but very comfortable with a back zipper and halter spaghetti straps that tie together mid back. The fabric is made out of cotton blends, therefore perfect for warm, summer days.

What caught my attention about this dress was the detailing. The section at the waist is embroidered with pink flowers circling the waist. Along the front and the back of the dress the flowers are intricately woven on, portraying a very soft and feminine look. The dress is a pastel pink and I wasn’t sure if it would stay warm for the duration of the day, so I layered it with my washed out YMI denim jacket. For shoes, I wore a pair of grey suede Via Spiga sandals (www.viaspiga.com).  I decided to keep it simple with accessories, wearing a pair of golden hoop earrings with pastel beads attached to them, and a light-colored bracelet, both of which I purchased at Claire’s (www.claires.com), an accessory store usually found in shopping malls here in California.

I highly recommend Romwe.com for cute, well made pieces. Let me know what favorite online stores you have in the comments below! I would love to chat. Have a lovely weekend! XOXOXOXOXOXO
