Hope everyone is staying warm this winter season. With the holidays almost finished, I have been feeling a sense of exhaustion. From all the hustle and bustle starting with Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Eve just around the corner, I have found very little time to relax and unwind. This led me to feel unorganized, exhausted and a tad bit cranky. After a certain point I realized I need to slow down if I want to continue being proactive.
I realized relaxing doesn’t mean an extravagant vacation somewhere. Sometimes, it is the simple things in life that bring the most joy. For example I love reading. But lately I feel I rarely have the time to sit and enjoy a book. So I decided to set a block of time in the evening, about 45 minutes to an hour to read. I burn some of my favorite candles to set the mood, turn on some low lights, dress in my most comfortable clothes and sit back with my favorite hot beverage (usually hot chocolate or a chai latte if I really want to spoil myself). These moments of “me” time allow me to forget the stresses of everyday and simply enjoy the moment of peace.
